The island of Puerto Rico is located 1,258.94 miles from the equator. José AponteDe la Torre Airport is in the municipality of Ceiba on the eastern coast of the island. The geographic location and configuration of the airport as a commercial launch site offer a significant range of safe launch inclinations for launch vehicle types that take off and land horizontally. Its location provides also, an excellent geography for satellite constellation ground stations.
Tip:
Horizontal launch aircraft utilize the airport runway. Once it reached 35,000 ft., the rocket ignites. Therefore, there is no rocket ignition over populated areas and no noise pollution.

Puerto Rico Ports Authority operates this airport since November 2008. The airport currently offers scheduled passenger service via three commercial airlines to the municipality islands of Vieques and Culebra.
The airport already hosts aeronautical maintenance, repair, and overhaul companies.
The airport is approximately 3 miles away from the port of Ceiba.

The University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla is a public university campus. It is one of the eleven campuses of the University of PuertoRico. UPRAg offers an associate degree in Aeronautics andAerospace Technology (AAT). It prepares the students with the necessary skills and knowledge such as aircraft/spacecraft systems technology, inspection and maintenance procedures of aircraft and space vehicles, instrument calibration, test equipment operation, and maintenance, and report preparation to perform in industries related to the aerospace/aeronautical technology at anon-engineering technical level.
The normal operation of the AAT program is allocated to the facilities of the Aeronautical and the Aerospace Institute of Puerto Rico(IAAPR).
